What are some tips for preparing for an overnight house guest?

What are some things I should have at my home to accomodate them? What are some tips for preparing for an overnight house guest?
Clean sheets, pillow cases, and freshly laundered blankets, a fresh vase of flowers in their room on the nightstand, a tiny box of choclates if you really want to be nice to them and really care how they enjoy their time with you. Fresh towls, an assortment of soaps, body washes and bath bubbles. A travel toothbrush and toothpaste just in case they forget. A few shaving needs for the guys just in case they forget and same for the ladies. Also plan one day of events then let your guest pick something to do the next day. Ask if they have a fav soda, wine or beer they like. Ask what they would like to do for dinner go out or stay in if its not to much trouble for you and your hubby.

Have fun with your guest thats the main part of keeping their stay as relaxing and fun as possible. I use to work at a resort in my home town we used these tricks for our condo guests and they loved it.What are some tips for preparing for an overnight house guest?
preparing for a overnight house guest is simple depending on who it is.

Is it a child? An adult? Family? Parents?

Prepare the guest bedroom with clean linens, have spare toothbrush and paste just in case they forgot theirs.. Also have extra towels in their bathroom and lotion to apply after a shower.

I would remove any things from the guest bedroom so it does not appear crowded. Also a good chair for your guest to sit in and read if they so choose, and make sure a phone is at hand should your guest decide to place a local call.

As for foods, well anything that the family already enjoys eating should be acceptable to your guest as well. Unless of course you happen to know of any foods or snacks, drinks your guest enjoys that you normally don't have on hand would be appreciated I am certain.

Try to make it as relaxing for your guest as possible making them feel like your home is their home and they can let their hair down and relax.

Don't worry, I am certain your house guest will enjoy all of your hard work, and appreciate you for everything you have prepared.

Best of Luck
Whenever we've had someone stay the night w/ us I make an unofficial checklist:

Do I have clean sheets/blankets/pillows for them?

Purchase their favorite beverages to put in the fridge.

Make sure I have clean towels folded and placed in the bathroom for them.

Purchase various snack foods, etc, in case they're hungry.

Plus, I always make sure that the house is picked up, run the vacuum, clean the bathroom, all of that sort of thing.

The little things are what makes people feel welcome in another person's house!
It depends on who the guest it and how comfortable you are with them. I would say clean towels, washclothes, sheets, and blankets and pillows are a must. You might also want to have a couple different beverages and maybe some snacks or munchies.
Clean towels, clean sheets, extra soap and shampoo.
personally I always make sure my house is clean - bathrooms have guest towels, shampoo %26amp; soap in the shower, bed has clean sheets %26amp; ready for a guest to sleep in. Room in the closet for clothes, dresser top cleaned off for their convenience. Kitchen cleaned %26amp; xtra food, drink or snacks they might like. Depends on how long they will stay and how CLOSE a friend the guest is too.... You might ask them upfront if there is anything special they need you to have on hand for their stay too.

DO they have children coming? Need childrens toys? House baby-proofed? Crayons %26amp; paper or coloring books for them? Pets that need accomodations/food etc? Just have everything clean %26amp; ready for whatever they bring or fail to bring - keep a few extra tooth brushes on hand too.
a clean secure sleeping room of there Owen of course ,

-- just as YOU would expect in a hotel room .
