How do I remove an unwanted house guest. A friend of mine called me from California in April,telling me she?

was moving back to Florida,and if she can stay in my house until she found her own apt. I agreed that she could stay for 2 or 3 months. Well, it has been almost 4 months and I want her OUT. She is disrupting our lives with her drinking, and expecting to be picked up off the floor every time she falls down. How can I make her get out,without taking her to court? Welcome to Florida..right of domicile. the state where a guest can stay forever. You will have to evict her. Once she started gettting mail at your place you are stuck with her.





Any number of people have given the County money to evict family members, friends, co-workers, anyone who came to stay.

I do not let anyone use my address to get mail at. I do not let people in my house for more than thirty minutes at a time. Sit her down for a face-to-face talk, and explain to her that she has overstayed her welcome, and is no longer wanted in your house. Hand her a telephone book, opened to ';apartment rentals'; and tell her that she has 5 days to be out or you will have her removed.


If she is as bad an alcoholic as you say, maybe taking her to detox would be a good alternative, and when she gets out of detox she can live elsewhere.
in the state of Florida once some one establishes residency you can not throw them out. if she has been living there that long that is know her house to and does not matter who's name is on the lease or mortgage and wither or not she pays any bills the only way you can legally force her to move is to go down to the clerk of courts office and file for an eviction if you try and just throw her stuff out she can kick the door in or what ever else she has to do to get back in because it is her house to now and it is not against the law to break into your own home
Simply tell her to leave or that it's time for her to pitch in. If not, call the police it's our property and have the right to say who stays and who doesn't stay there. Or change your locks and place her stuff outside. If you are too nice, grow a pair and kick her out with force. You say ';our'; lives so there is more than 1 of you.
You know the old saying, after a few days guests are like fish,...they start to stink. Just tell her face to face you want her out of the house. Get her a motel room and put her in it. (but only pay for one night, she can be responsible for the rest)
TELL HER TO GET OUT. SHE HAS OVERSTAYED WAY LONGER THAT YOU OFFERED HER TO. YOU SHOULD TELL HER ALL THE REASONS WHY YOU WANT HER OUT SUCH AS THE FACT THAT SHE DRINKS TOO MUCH. JUST TELL YOU'VE HAS ENOUGH OF HER!!!
Find out what the eviction laws are in your state before you remove her, or you could get yourself into trouble.





It may be as simple as just giving her a letter stating she has to be out within 30 days.
law dawg or w/e his name is rite. did u write a contract when she moved in with u cuz if you did u have the rite 2 kick her out.
Give her an ultimatum. Move out at the end of the month, or you'll lock her out.





Offer to help her find an apartment.

Make it hard for her to stay or Find her an apartment. Shes not going to go anywhere cuz she is living off you. Or just tell her she has 1 week to get out
Take all of her stuff out of the house and put it to the curb that should give her a hint.
Make sure she doesn't have a key. If she does, change the locks. Once you've done that, tell her, verbally and in writing that she has one week to vacate the premises. If she doesn't leave after that, take out a warrant on her for criminal tresspass.


Note: do NOT put her things out on the curb like some of the otehrs suggest. You may very well find yourself financially responsible for any loss of damage she incurs.
