What features distinguish a family run luxury guest house from others? What does it take to start one?

I am 42 years old and want to retire in 5 years to a quiet life with my wife. We are looking at a place in the Pakistani mountains and would like to convert it into a luxury family run guest house that will be open 6 to 7 months a year (it is snowed-in in the other months). The idea is to earn enough in those months and then move back to our house in the city, relax, travel etc. in the off months. Good idea? What does it take?
