If a real estate agency sales a home but it's later found to be registered as a guest house, is that illegal?

The city we live in is now making my family move because they claim the home that I am living in is a guest home. Any tips or advice? If a real estate agency sales a home but it's later found to be registered as a guest house, is that illegal?
I don't understand how you could buy a guest house without the title and a host of other problems showing up during escrow. The sale should never have completed. Something doesn't sound right here. You didn't pay some private party cash for this house did you? If so, someone probably scammed you. I recommend you contact a realestate attorney to research the title on the property for starters. The attorney can advise you what to do next.

This is why a buyer must ALWAYS be represented by a real estate attorney.
Whats the difference, guest home or home. Still a place to live.
Because a dwelling unit is registered as a guest house should not preclude its use as a single family residence. You'll need a lawyer. If you purchased the property fee simple, you had title insurance. You may have recourse through the title company, the city and the seller. First, you'll need a stay of eviction and for that, you need a lawyer.
If there was a closing, then there had to be title insurance. You should have no problem. Call your attorney now.
